Old Paper is a collection of poems and essays dedicated to that sweet spot at the end of the 20th Century wherein people were started to open up, but didna€™t show every single detail of their life and the endless minutiae which people post online endlessly these days. The book discusses the joy of the smell of the old paper in traditional books, contrasted with the excitement, horror, happiness and surprise that come along with new situations such as the first day of class, your first funeral, and your first brush with romance. Old Paper gives details of the sublime moments with your parents, your grandparents, siblings, and best friends. Many of the stories involve very personal stories and anecdotes from my personal experiences with family and friends, teachers and mentors. The work has a look at sports, the best coaches you ever had, the best book you ever had, and experiences which open your eyes to the world. There are broad overreaching themes such as love, family and death, but we also take a look at the intense pleasure of enjoying your favorite food, or a trip to the ballpark. Remember the time when people lived before selfies, before everyone had cell phones, and when you still had some privacy and sharing was a more personal experience. Also, depending on whether you are totally digitally dependent or not, the book still obviously has timeless themes which are applicable to any generation.
